Côte de Beaune

A key wine-producing district of Burgundy in the east of France.

The Côte de Beaune area is the southern part of the Côte d'Or, the limestone ridge that is home to the great names of Burgundy wine. The Côte de Beaune starts between Nuits-Saint-Georges and Beaune, and extends southwards for about 25 km to the river Dheune. The trend of producing red wines continues from the Côte de Nuits to the north, down through Beaune, although the wines become lighter and more perfumed. Farther south lie the great names of white Burgundy such as Meursault and Chassagne-Montrachet.

Product Details
Site : This vineyard of 1.90 hectare is ideally located on mid-slope close to the hill of Corton-Charlemagne. Same soil structure and height as its famous neighbour. The only difference is the East exposure of the "Caradeux" which makes of this plot an exceptional "terroir" providing unique mineral characteristics.
Report of vintage; After a winter marked by temperature variations between January and February, spring began gently. Coolness and heat followed one another between April and May with a significant rainfall deficit that could not be compensated for by the storms of June. The summer was marked by several fairly long heatwaves and the arrival of storms at the end of August had a very beneficial effect before the start of the harvest. At Chanson, the harvest began on August 30 and ended on September 13. The 2022 vintage was very generous in volume and the quality is also there with well-balanced, precise and fresh white wines.
Tasting; Pale gold color. Very fresh nose with delicate citrus notes blended with aromas of white-fleshed fruits and enhanced by a minerality characteristic of the appellation. On the palate, a very frank attack diffusing iodized notes. Beautiful complexity with a chiseled texture. Long and precise finish.
Food pairing : To be enjoyed with seafood, fish, and mild cheeses.

Critics scores; 90 The French Wine Review; 90 Wine Spectator; 89-92 Jasper Morris; 16+ Jancis Robinson; 94 Bettane & Dessauve.
