Côte de Beaune

A key wine-producing district of Burgundy in the east of France.

The Côte de Beaune area is the southern part of the Côte d'Or, the limestone ridge that is home to the great names of Burgundy wine. The Côte de Beaune starts between Nuits-Saint-Georges and Beaune, and extends southwards for about 25 km to the river Dheune. The trend of producing red wines continues from the Côte de Nuits to the north, down through Beaune, although the wines become lighter and more perfumed. Farther south lie the great names of white Burgundy such as Meursault and Chassagne-Montrachet.

PRODUCER; Pounamu is an independent family-owned wine company based in the Waihopai Valley of Marlborough. In Māori, Pounamu means greenstone, a rare and treasured stone that symbolises peace and harmony. Wines are grown predominantly at a Single Vineyard site with some Sauvignon Blanc parcels from special and select vineyards around the Marlborough region. The wines are 100% Sustainably Accredited. Special, Spirited, Authentic.

TASTING NOTE; Intense aromas of tropical fruits and mango alongside fresh herbs and juicy grapefruit. This is an incredibly refreshing and stunning Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc with serious complexity and depth.
VITICULTURE & WINEMAKING; Grapes from selected sites throughout the Marlborough region, with clones chosen by mass selection, were machine-harvested. The fruit was de-stemmed and gently pressed in a pneumatic press. The juice was cold-settled, then racked and inoculated with cultured yeast. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks to showcase the natural aromatics of the variety.
