Côte de Beaune

A key wine-producing district of Burgundy in the east of France.

The Côte de Beaune area is the southern part of the Côte d'Or, the limestone ridge that is home to the great names of Burgundy wine. The Côte de Beaune starts between Nuits-Saint-Georges and Beaune, and extends southwards for about 25 km to the river Dheune. The trend of producing red wines continues from the Côte de Nuits to the north, down through Beaune, although the wines become lighter and more perfumed. Farther south lie the great names of white Burgundy such as Meursault and Chassagne-Montrachet.

Product Details
PRODUCER; Lying in the foothills of Mount Brown in the Waipara Valley, this abandoned wine estate was only rediscovered in 2002 and has since quickly become something of a success story. With much lower yields, it’s no surprise the valley is fast establishing a reputation for quality. Aromatic varieties such as Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir are perfectly suited to Mount Brown’s small, sheltered stony site, and winemaking here is of a very high order.
TASTING NOTE; Packed with intense notes of grapefruit, gooseberries, passion fruit and pineapple. The palate is well-balanced with great depth. Classic New Zealand Sauvignon.
VITICULTURE & WINEMAKING; The grapes are grown on well drained gravel soils. All vines are grafted onto 3309 rootstock which limits crop and enhances flavour intensity.Machine harvest so fruit is pressed quickly for a cool ferment. Fruit was pressed to tank and cold settled for 48 hours, then racked to tank and inoculated with selected yeast strains. The wine spent a short period on yeast lees after fermentation before being stabilised, filtered and bottled.

GRAPE VARIETIES 100% Sauvignon Blanc
