Côte de Beaune

A key wine-producing district of Burgundy in the east of France.

The Côte de Beaune area is the southern part of the Côte d'Or, the limestone ridge that is home to the great names of Burgundy wine. The Côte de Beaune starts between Nuits-Saint-Georges and Beaune, and extends southwards for about 25 km to the river Dheune. The trend of producing red wines continues from the Côte de Nuits to the north, down through Beaune, although the wines become lighter and more perfumed. Farther south lie the great names of white Burgundy such as Meursault and Chassagne-Montrachet.

Product Details
PRODUCER; Château de Mille, the oldest vineyard in Luberon Natural Park (dating to 1238), spans 116 hectares with 25 dedicated to vines. Since Constance and Lawrence Slaughter acquired it in 2018, the estate shifted to organic and biodynamic practices, emphasising biodiversity. With north-facing vineyards, diverse soils, and old vines (50-70 years), combined with an altitude of 200-400 meters, a strategic location, and low yields, their wines showcase exceptional freshness, fruit, and character.
TASTING NOTE; A complex blend of Ugni Blanc, Clairette and Rolle from handpicked 70-year-old vines. Vibrant aromas and flavours of white peaches, pears, green apple, and blood orange, with delicate floral and herbal undertones. Fresh with a textured mouthfeel.

VITICULTURE & WINEMAKING; Old vines of Ugni Blanc and Clairette, aged 74 years, alongside Vermentino vines aged 4 years. Hand-harvested. Slow pressing of whole clusters at low temperature. Fermentation is carried out in demi-muids, concrete eggs, and stainless steel tanks. Ageing on the lees in demi-muids and stainless steel tanks for 8 months.

GRAPE VARIETIES; 40% Ugni Blanc, 35% Vermentino, 25% Clairette
