Site : White wines are very unusual in Savigny-les-Beaune, the vineyards producing essentially red wines. The particular nature of the soil "Hauts Marconnets" with Marl, chalk and limestone encouraged Chanson to plant Chardonnay. The vineyard of 2,18 hectares is ideally situated high up on the hill of Savigny-les-Beaune, facing south-east, close to the hills of Beaune 1er Crus.
The Vintage 2022 : After a mild winter, spring is marked by alternating heat and cool weather until April. In May, milder or even warm temperatures favor a fairly early and auspicious start to flowering. Spring ends with a water deficit that will not be filled. July and August are marked by alternating storms and very hot periods. At the end of August, very high temperatures settle in and allow the grapes to perfect their maturity as the harvest approaches. At Chanson, the harvest begins on September 5th under radiant sunshine and ends on September 16th. The white wines are very expressive with aromas of white-fleshed fruits and a beautiful structure.
Tasting : Pale gold color with floral fragrances and aromas of yellow and white fleshed fruits (apricot). Well balanced and precise. Round and ample on the palate. Very well integrated wood. Long and fresh finish with notes of vanilla.
Food pairing : Shellfish, grilled seascallops, fish and cheese (goat).
