Domaine Chanson Beaune 1er Cru 2012 Clos Des Feves Monopole

Location: Domaine Chanson monopoly in the heart of the Beaune Premiers Crus. The 3.80 hectare vineyard is located mid-slope. Le Clos des Fèves was listed as early as 1307 under the Latin name "Fae".

The 2012 Vintage: After a very cold winter, a cold and rainy spring, the mixed and stormy summer gave way in the second half of August to very fine weather combined with high temperatures. The harvest took place at the beginning of September under a radiant sun. It should be noted that these climatic vagaries resulted in very low yields. However, meticulous vinification and careful aging give wines of great aromatic purity and very fresh. Aged in oak barrels for 14 months.

Tasting: Beautiful ruby color. Delicate floral fragrances with notes of red berries (currant, blackcurrant) and a light mineral touch. Complex and deep. Chiseled and dense texture. Very pure fruit. End of the mouth with restraint but full of finesse and elegance. Rating: 91-94 Burghound.com 16.5/20 La Revue du Vin de France – March 2015

Food and wine pairings: Game (pheasant), poultry (capon) and all mature cheeses (Epoisses, Langres).
