Product Details

Created in 1452, for two centuries Château de Pez belonged to the Pontac family, also owners of Château Haut-Brion and pioneers in showcasing great terroirs. Been part of the Louis Roederer family of Estates since 1995.

As Louis Roederer’s gateway to Bordeaux, Pez now has all the makings of a Grand Cru” Frédéric Rouzaud CEO of Champagne Louis Roederer.

"At both Pez and Pichon Comtesse (who they also own), every plot is cultivated, fermented and tasted separately. This plot-by-plot approach is first and foremost about producing a delicious, expressive and fruity wine.

Saint-Estèphe has always been a noble, connoisseurs’ wine. Its highly concentrated tannic structure can give it a sharp character at times, with a slightly higher acidity compared to other Médoc appellations." Nicolas Glumineau General Manager.

The Estate consists a total of 42 hectares; 70 plots.

“The plot-by-plot approach and precision winemaking have created a delicious wine with excellent ageing potential”

The 2009 Château de Pez is currently in a "prime" drinking window as of 2026. This vintage was a standout for Saint-Estèphe, benefiting from a warm, dry summer that resulted in high ripeness and structure.

Robert Parker 92" The finest De Pez I have ever tasted." Notes of crushed rocks, sweet black currants, and earth. Described as deep and fleshy with a 25–30 year aging potential.

James Suckling 90" Tight and fresh with blackberry, mineral, and light tar character." Full-bodied with chewy tannins and a subtle spice on the aftertaste.

Wine Enthusiast 93 " Highly structured with layers of wood and dark plum fruit. Emphasizes the firm texture typical of Saint-Estèphe."
